Achtung, eine Warnmeldung an alle Geocacher. Groundspeak hat eine Downtime für die Geocaching.com-Seite inkl. aller API-Schnittstellen angekündigt. Das heißt am 23. Februar wird GC.com über längere Zeit wegen Wartungsarbeiten nicht erreichbar sein. Plant eure Touren also rechtzeitig!

Greetings Esteemed Groundspeak Partners,

I am writing to let you know about a planned downtime for our database server which will affect all geocaching services, including the API. The following note has been published in the forums today, and will be linked to in our weekly emailer and linked on the front page of the geocaching.com website.

"On Tuesday, February 23rd starting at 8 PM Pacific Time (GMT - Cool

, we'll be performing upgrades to the Geocaching.com database server in preparation for the increase in Geocaching over the spring and summer months.

The expected downtime for this work is 4 hours and during that time, all Geocaching.com services including the web site, Pocket Queries, the Geocaching iPhone application, Geocache Navigator, and other 3rd party applications that access our API, will be inaccessible.

We'll have a webpage set up on the Geocaching site with this downtime notice and we'll provide status updates if the downtime exceeds the 4 hour maintenance window. We'll also post updates to this forum thread as well."

The purpose for this downtime is to prepare for an increase in geocaching site traffic and database load over the spring and summer months. We will be undergoing a necessary update of the Geocaching.com database from 32 to 64 bits. This changeover means that the database, web site and all associated services need to go down during this time for the upgrade.
